Hyderabad: BRS leader and former minister Harish Rao on Monday said the memories of the Telangana movement came to his mind on the occasion of Deeksha Diwas. Floral tributes were paid to the statue of Telangana Thalli in Siddipet town by him. He also paid homage to the martyrs of Rangadhampally. Later, he said some thieves came into the party and ate like a pig and went away again.

“KCR took some decisions on that day to save Telangana. There will be no place for such people in the party anymore," he said while adding that in 1956, the elders of the united State had opposed the formation of separate Telangana State. He said in those circumstances, KCR went to swarajya sadhana through a political process and added that Telangana had been included in the Common Minimum Programme at the Centre. He recalled that KCR had served for six months as a State minister without portfolio for Telangana. “However, we know what the Congress has done. There have been many struggles and humiliations and we have sacrificed our posts for the cause of Telangana,” he claimed. He said the Congress and TDP had passed resolutions in favour of Telangana and changed their words after the needs were met and alleged that the BJP had gone wrong by saying that one vote was for two States. “KCR took the resolve to go on a fast-unto-death at a preparatory meeting for Udyoga garjana."

When KCR was coming from Karimnagar for the deeksha, he was arrested and shifted to Khammam jail,” Rao recalled. He alleged that the police had arrested them like wolves had fallen on a herd of sheep while they were fasting at the deeksha camp in Siddipet in support of KCR.
